I have lived in Durban for the past forty years & I am a frequent traveler. There is more good than bad. I will encourage people to come and experience the beautiful & clean beach, very friendly and happy people, warm hearted, variety of food options, clean 5 star accommodation. I will strongly advise that like anywhere that as a traveller to get information on crime hotspots before doing a hotel/ accommodation as it makes it exposes one to criminal elements if you book / stay in crime infested areas.

one thing about Durban town is that it is a business place, one busy street in Durban is west street,it is street with four lanes going in one direction and vehicles move at very fast speed to keep traffic low, traffic lights are designed from short distances all to control traffic.During the day people are busy across all streets and business is a pick between 08 in the morning until 5 in the evening.most of the shorts are automobile shops with latest south African vehicles. In the night life is calm and quiet, with a numbers of hookers from one street to another.a combination of whites and blacks ,and escort shops are also open at this time.vehicles are few at this time.

I grew up in Durban but went and lived in Cape Town for a long time, then i came back here for a few years then went on to live in Japan. I have been back here now for almost 15 years. The winter is the best here, lol!! Cape Town is a beautiful place to live but so is Durban. I find the people in these two cities to be the friendliest. Japan was awesome and i met many people and made lots of friends, one who became one of my students is actually coming over to visit me next year.

Durban is known to many for diverse cultures and peoples, but little is known for its valleys and hills in the outskirts of Hillcrest in the West of Durban. The place is called "Valley of a thousand hills" because of a number of hills that are lining the Hillcrest and Kloof suburbs. This area is rich with people who are still into culture and practise the African traditions as was done in the early 1800 & 1900's.

I was there in Durban for a span of 6 months on a business trip. The time that I have spent there was unforgettable. I enjoyed a lot there. The place is nice. I was leaving at North Beach flats and the view of Sunrise was really amazing ... There are lots of places to visit in Durban...We went to Mirana Beach, Midmar Dam around 200 km from Durban. One of my trips, to lions Park, I can never forget in my life...We went there and around 20-25 Lions had circled around our car.....Then there was a place called Ushaka..Main attraction of Ushaka was the Dolphin Show. It is worth visiting Ushaka.....If you have not visited Ushaka while your stay in Durban you have missed a lot. Then there is a pub in North Beach called Joy Cools: our best hanging place in Durban, where we had mostly spent our Friday night.......
