Domincan republic is great but where you stay can mean the difference of a good to excellent time or a time with food poisoning and dirty rooms. I have stayed at Bahia Principe in puerto plata and of all the hotels I have stayed at this is by far the best.

Its true. I´ve stayed in Barceló Puerto Plata Resort and for me is one of the best. Good service and food. Excellent show and disco at night. As I am working here, I have got the chance to try lots.

I stayed at the ZOO by Costambar which is a private social club for foreigners and had a great time , I felt safe and had a private guide show me around where ever I wanted to go! so for your next private event or bachelor party ,I will highly recommend the ZOO if you enjoy your privacy like me .

take the tour with the Puerto Plato runners Its an open bus/truck and tours you through farms, villages, school, tobacco plantations, local cigar factory, rum distillery time on the beach to snorkel and also ride horses. They supply the liquor and some infortunately induldge in a bit to much. But it was a worthwhile experience.
Take in the local towns Yes do watch for the drivers they are assertive.
Most of all enjoy the people!
