What more could you possibly want? Portland has a huge forest in the middle of the city, beautiful Chinese and Japanese gardens, as well as the Rose Test Garden - quirky shops and even quirkier and amazing people.

Portland has the best micro brews in the country (and many brew pubs), food that is not only delicious - but inexpensive as well (of course, there are plenty of premium restaurants that are amazing and well worth every dollar spent)! You're also never lacking for a live show any night of the week. We have Mount Hood in the south, the Pacific Ocean to the west - never really far from anything - and you can find nearly anything in Portland and the surrounding areas.

Theatre-friendly, art-obsessed, socially-concerned and nature-crazy - Portland is a big city with the welcoming, small town feel. It's also very pretty at night. I love my hometown.

Honestly usually late June-early September.. but this year it was middle July-August. We usually get a few 100 degree days in August, but it's not typical that it lasts too long. I would also suggest that there is really unique things being done for foodies in Portland. The food carts, the farmers markets and the many really truly unique Portland restaurants. Shoot me a line and I will highlight a few for you!

I am going to visit Portland from 16-18 Sept. for the first time. What do you recommend to see and visit?

Do you like beer? Then go visit the breweries. Do you like wine? Go visit the wineries. Do you like music? Check out a concert at the Doug Fir Room, the Crystal Ball room, If you like the nightlife then head downtown. If you like the seedier sort of nightlife Portland has the most strip clubs per capita in the USA. Thus bachelor parties happen quite often. Do you like the outdoors? You are in the right place then. Hunting, Fishing, Skiing, Whitewater rafting, rock climbing, running, walking, ultimate frisbee pick up games, soccer matches... Also of note pdx is 1 1/2 hours from the coast and 1 hour from the mountains... Plenty to do in PDX...

You cannot suffer with gephyrophobia and enjoy Portland and Vancouver--home to all three main structural bridge types and all three main movable bridge types, among them the world's oldest vertical lift bridge, North America's longest tied arch bridge, and a unique double-decker that displaces 9 million pounds when both decks are moving. And most of them only 1/3 mile apart and legal for bicyclists and pedestrians. Here, too, you will find inviting pedestrian bridges, including the Vancouver Land Bridge, the Veterans Hospital Skybridge, the Portland Aerial Tram, and the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Bridge, now under construction.
