Great place to visit for the history buff. Must visit the historic district. Justine's Kitchen and Hyman are great places to eat. Prepare to wait at Hyman's but the seafood is fresh and delicious. Justine's is the spot for some good Soul/Southern Food. Check out the markets and the museums. The Manigault House is a good tour but the guide was awful. Extremely dull!

Charleston is a beautiful place, full of history and amazing things to see. Masonic symbolism is spread throughout the downtown area, from the all-seeing eye stamped into bricks, to large obelisks standing proud in squares. There is even an intersection of King and Queen streets, which if you follow Masonic lore, you would know is a rather important thing to them. There's also the added bonus of the current State Bank being in the same building where Freemasonry in South Carolina was started.

If you are planning a trip to Charleston, there is almost a 100% chance that you will visit the Market downtown,
While you are there, do yourselves a favor: go to have dinner at the best French Restaurant (with a low country's flavor) in town, that also features the best music of the area: Mistral. Mistral is the love child of Peter and Francoise, both charming and dedicated hosts. The menu is extensive and the dishes will make your mouth water just by reading their description.
The service is also first class and one thing which is quite unusual in the Restaurant Industry: the waiters and waitresses have generally been there for several years, some, more than 10 years.
A word of advice: make sure you book your party in advance, as the restaurant is very popular with Charlestonians and Tourists alike.
BON APPETIT, and tell Francoise that her Poetry Writer friend sent you, you will get an even better treatment if it's possible.
