Areas of Bangkok
The Chao Phrarya River: The Chao Phraya River is still the epicentre of the city. Cruises and river taxis ferry locals and visitors along, providing a chance to take in some of the stunning temples that are a must for any visit to Bangkok. Patpong Area: The most popular and fun part of the city for nightlife. It is located between Silom Road and Surawong Road. Plenty of places to go and enjoy a night on the town including the infamous exotic go-go bars and night market. Sukhumvit Road: In the eastern part of the city is fashionable Sukhumvit Road, this area has plenty of hotels and marks the beginning of a rambling shopping, entertainment and residential district.
Getting there and around
Bangkok International Airport is located about 25km. The journey to/from the city centre takes between 45 – 120 minutes. Good public transport system including river, canal and skytrain.
Sightseeing Ideas
Grand Palace: The Grand Palace is Bangkok’s most famous attraction. Built in 1782 by King Rama I, each elaborate building is a masterpiece of Thai architecture. The Grand Palace is open to visitors daily, either morning or afternoon.
Floating Market: Located outside of Bangkok this is a must see. Bright, bustling, loud, colourful and a world away from our idea of a market Thai Cooking Class: In Bangkok you will no doubt indulge in the delights of Thai food. This cooking class allows you to take some expertise home with you.
