About Me
I took early retirement from the 'chalk face' after teaching in the UK for 30 or so years. After a year of relaxation I decided to see the world and arrived in Hami, Xinjiang, China. Situated on the ancient 'silk route' it is a place, to me of outstanding beauty. The vast Taklimaklan desert which stretches for thousands of miles southward contrasts sharply with the Tian Shan mountain range which shelter Hami to the north. The weather is extreme, scorching hot summers and desperately cold winters. The people are of varied ethnic backbrounds and this adds to the mystery and
