friendly people, always warm and even hot weather, superb shopping centers and a nice promenade along the sea, where locals come in the evening to chat by the water. A few things to know (this is KDA and not just Jedda): don't dream of finding one drop of alcohol, women are not allowed to drive or to swim in swimming-pools (even european women in the major hotels !), women and men do not mix in restaurants (women in one part, men in another), even in Macdonalds.
For cheap hotels, IO recommend you have a look at this site: http://www.budgetplaces.com/us/paris/budget-hotels-list/ don't hesitate to contact me in case you would need further information, it 'll be my pleasure. / Fred
I'm regulartly going to Tunisia since the late 70-ties and the island of Djerba has definitely become one of my favorite places for a relaxing holidays on the beaches: lust over 2 hoursq flight from paris, sunshine guaranteed, lovely beaches (providing you select your hotel cartefully!!), warm seawater, good food and most of all: tunisian people are charming and on Djerba in particular. For the remaining parts of Tunisia so much has already been said here, so I won't repeat.
impossible to obtain a visa as a tourist ... as a westerner the only possibility to enter the country is upon an invitation from a local company that allows you to demand an (expensive) visa. A part from that, I personally was a few times in jeddah and enjoyed my stay and learned to appreciate the Saudis as very kind and open-minded people.
