Zambia is beautiful as are its people. When I was in Lusaka, there were very good internet cafes plus I used Barkley's Bank. Limited cash withdrawal but helpful staff at Barkley's. Stay at a backpacker's lodge: you meet all sorts of people, it is a very open atmosphere, and very inexpensive. Don't miss Victoria Falls.
Kumboka(?sp) Backpackers Lodge in Lusaka was fine; much better than the Holiday Inn where we spent our first night. British owner was friendly and knowledgable when I was there in 2004. Lodge was close to a college and within walking distance of downtown and a very good internet cafe. Also, I recommend making friends with your cabbie, getting his cell number, and using him on a regular basis: safets and quickest way to travel in Lusaka.
