Thank you to everyone who entered the LangCommLingo competition to win 1 of 3 iPod Touch. We received more than 4000 entries which was absolutely fantastic, but 2 lucky winners were chosen and they are (drum roll): Jane M-P. from the USA and Suzie G. from Great Britain
We also offered a prize for the “best” idea for how you might use LangCommLingo when you're next abroad.” Again we had lots of great suggestions – including using Lingo to train a dog to help him flirt with ladies!” - several of which we have posted on our
Blog. Of course there can only be one winner and (further drum roll) we have chosen: Panela G. from the US for the following suggestion:
“I definitely would use Lingo when traveling by Taxi. Also when booking a room at a hotel – wouldn’t want to end up in the broom closet for the night. Lastly when shopping - they can spot a tourist and will take advantage of you for sure. Wouldn’t want to pay $100.00 for a $10.00 nicknac”

How much does it cost?
Not as much as you may think! To put an interpreter in your pocket you will need to take out an annual subscription with Lingo which will cost less than an average round of drinks.
If you don't need an interpreter on your travels then that's it - peace of mind for a whole year! Full detail of the cost is on our website but, in short, if ever you do need an interpreter then we will charge your pre-registered debit or credit card at a set rate per minute for the minutes you are actually talking to the interpreter. Calls are generally quite short and so getting things sorted will not cost you the earth. Read more .....

What languages are available from LangCommLingo and which subscription do I need?
Whilst most people know that they speak Russian in Russia, Swedish in Sweden and Italian in Italy, what language is spoken in Burundi?
When you have decided where you're travelling to, or you have a vague idea, take a look at the ethnologue to see which languages are spoken where. Deciding on the correct subscription option - European or Worldwide - depends on your travel plans obviously. If in doubt it does make sense to opt for Worldwide cover because the difference in price is minimal and you will then have access to well over 100 languages as opposed to just the 30 European ones.

I've never used an interpreter before - is it straightforward?
In a word,YES.
The advice we would give if you need to access an interpreter is keep control of the conversation. Stay in charge! You're making the call so tell the interpreter what you need saying and that's what he or she will do.
If you would like to listen to a simple demonstration call then click here.
We have also published some handy tips on how to use an interpreter efficiently on our website. Click here if you want to have a quick read but really, it's not difficult!

Our interpreters are a good deal better than Catherine Tate's character, but not as funny for sure!

Put an interpreter in your pocket when you're travelling.
Travel is a large part about new experiences, making friends, interesting cultures, weather, customs, languages and all the rest of it.
Most of us, thankfully, pack the essentials and take sensible precautions before setting off. Even the most adventurous do the obvious, such as take out adequate travel insurance for the trip.
Despite all your preparation though, have you ever found yourself in a fix when you're abroad, particularly in a country where they do not speak your language? Ever lost your passport? Had your travellers cheques stolen? Become lost? Been bitten by a jelly fish and needed a doctor? Ordered what you thought was a salad and ended up with a sheep's head on a plate?
LangCommLingo provides 24/7 access to an interpreter over the telephone in over 100 languages. In the future, if you ever run in to difficulties whilst in foreign parts, you don't speak the language and you need to be able to communicate effectively, then imagine the peace of mind in knowing that you literally have an interpreter in your pocket!

Why do I need an interpreter - I've never needed one before?
Because "stuff" happens which is why we take out health or travel insurance for instance and, dare I say it, because of the low cost of having Lingo in your pocket. For a few pennies or cents a day you have that peace of mind.
But it's not all about emergencies. Imagine being able to chat up the person sitting next to you on a bus in 100 languages? (Now there's an idea for our iTouch competition!)
"But I'm already travelling" we hear you say. That's fine. You can sign up wherever you are in the world over the internet or on the phone.

Well of course you could just learn the language before you travel!
