Hey yawl. I am Tony. I hail from Belfast, Ireland. It's not the greatest city in the world but I love it. It's a city on the up and the people are great. There may not be as much to do as in Dublin but there is more than enough to keep you busy. If you are looking for some Irish culture there is plenty. If you are looking for a good night out, there are loads of small traditional bars in the Cathedral Quarter to start off, such as Whites, Duke of York, John Hewitt, etc. Most can be found down small cobbled allies where most people stand out on the street socialising. Loads of craic. Whites also have some traditional music at the weekends. It is probably one of the smallest bars in Belfast and also claims to be the oldest tavern in Belfast. You can also find some more modern bars such as the Northern Wig, the Spaniard (possibly the only bar in Belfast smaller than Whites), Cloth Ear and The Pothouse. Most of these bars are slightly more upmarket than those I first mentioned but still worth a visit. There are some vibrant night clubs in the area such as upstairs in Pothouse, The Kremlin, Even Horizon (open to 6am) and Ollie’s Club (located in the Merchant Hotel).
There are some highly rated restaurants such as Nicks Warehouse and The Great Room (in the Merchant Hotel).
The Cathedral quarter is also somewhere great to visit during the day. The stunning St Anne’s Cathedral is a must see as well as the newly renovated Ulster University. The Cathedral Quarter is also home to the Irish News, Belfast Telegraph, Belfast City Library and St Patricks church which are all a must see on any tour of Belfast.
