Double-bill win as WAYN claims Most Popular & Best Website in Communities and Social Networks Category at UK and Indian Website of the Year Awards 2012
WAYN, the world’s largest travel and lifestyle social network, has beaten Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to be awarded Most Popular & Best Website in the Communities and Social Networks Category at the Website of the Year Awards 2012, in both the UK and Indian editions of the awards.

The Website of the Year Awards are voted for online by the general public and the initiative is run by independent online research agency MetrixLab. The title ‘Best Website of the Year’ is awarded to the website with the highest average score in categories entitled content, navigation, design and recommendation likelihood. The title ‘Most Popular Website’ is provided to the website with the highest number of votes.

In the UK competition 193 websites were nominated in 22 categories and more than 87,700 votes were cast between the 1st October and the 9th November. In the Indian competition 181 websites were nominated in over 22 categories. More than 31,000 votes were cast between the 15th October and the 23rd November.

Peter Ward, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of WAYN said: “To win these awards against such stiff competition proves that what WAYN offers travellers is second-to-none, and we’re delighted that our members find the site so inspiring. Our membership has grown to over 21 million worldwide and we’ve recently established commercial partnerships with South Africa Tourism, Indonesian Tourism and London & Partners to further enhance the site, so next year promises to bring many new benefits.”
