You can send an SMS from a number of different sections on the site: "Friends List" section, "Who's Around" page and also from your Inbox.

You can send an SMS to several contacts at once through the SMS section on WAYN. Simply select the names of those contacts you would like to send a message to. Their names will be highlighted in blue and appear in the recipients list.

If there is no contact displayed in your contact box this means you have not got any contacts or that none of your contacts have added their mobile number when registering to WAYN.

Once on your sms page, you will have an "SMS account" box and once you click "Buy SMS" all the available packets and prices will be displayed.

To show your phone number as an SMS sender just select the option "Show my mobile/cell number as a sender" above the "Send SMS" option.

If you do not want your mobile number to be displayed when sending an SMS then please ensure that "Show my mobile/cell number as a sender" is not selected.

You can receive SMS on your mobile phone or via your WAYN email account.

The SMS icon will only appear next to the contacts that have entered a mobile number.

You can receive SMS either via your mobile or your WAYN mailbox. If you receive an SMS to your mailbox, it will be in your SMS inbox and you will see the number of them in the notification box.

Your contact telephone number will never be made public even to your contacts or friends unless you choose to display it, by ticking the option "'Show my mobile/cell number as a sender'".

WAYN provides you with mobile services which include International SMS bundles so you can keep in touch with friends whilst traveling more easily and also the ability to keep your WAYN membership current via SMS payment services.

To send an SMS go to "SMS" within the drop down list below the "Envelope" icon on the main toolbar at the top of the page. You may need to purchase SMS credit first. All members on WAYN have the “Interact” options available next to their profile image on the “Who's Around”/”Search results pages. If you wish to send a message to someone new simply hover over “Interact” icon and select the SMS, Instant Messenger, or Mail from the list which will appear below.

Our SMS is a global faciltity and will send to all international mobile phones. However, there are a small number of networks which are not supported.

You can receive text messages from WAYN as long as your network provider supports this function. If your mobile number is included within your profile details then other members, who have SMS credit available, will be able to message you.

WAYN provides a way to send and receive SMS worldwide. A mobile/cell phone number will be required for each contact that you want to send an SMS to. In addition, when adding a contact, an invitation email will be sent out.

To send an SMS from WAYN, go to "SMS" within the drop down list below the "Envelope" icon on the main toolbar at the top of most pages when you are logged in to WAYN. Click on "Buy SMS". You can choose to buy 300, 150 or 50 SMS at very competitive prices. Then click on "New SMS" and start typing your message. Select a contact from the list on your right (these are the contacts you have added with a mobile phone number and those contacts who have added their mobile number when registering to WAYN) or add a new number.

If the phone number you are sending a message to is not included in your contact list, fill the blank Forename, Name and email or skip. Please note that you can manually add a mobile number to the contact details of any of your registered contacts. To do so, go to the “People” - "Make Friends" - "Friends List" section and click on the "Edit details" icon next to the name of the person for whom you would like to add a mobile number. This allows you to edit the details of the contact and add the relevant mobile phone number. Ensure that you have also selected the correct international dialing code.

WAYN uses SMS providers which are connected to many different gateways around the world.

In the unlikely event that you are not able to receive SMS from WAYN it may be that your particular provider does not allow incoming SMS from internet services, or they do not have a connection with our providers networks. This is a very rare occurrence, but has been experienced by some on mobile networks in Eastern Europe and parts of South America or Asia.

The service should work fine on all networks in Central and Western Europe as well as Australasia and North America. If you or your friends are unfortunate to be on one of the networks which we cannot deliver to then please contact our support team who will be happy to refund any purchased SMS credits unused.

You will find the option to purchase international SMS by going to "My Account" within the drop down list below the Gearwheel icon at the top right hand corner of the screen. Then click on "Buy SMS" link. You can also go to your Mailbox, select SMS and click Buy SMS link there.
