Hi, I am South African with a Portuguese heritage way back in history, I have traced my ancestors back to Madeira.but unfortunately I do not speak Portuguese. I have been to Maputo several times and did lot of work in the Northern parts of Mozambique. I have been to most countries in Africa.

Hi Phillipi
Sorry, I dont know why, but i didn´t have this message in my email. Today, I casually came into Wayn reporters and i sow it. So,you loosed the language of your ancertors...Yes there was many emigrants from Madeira in South Africa. Let me tell you: I born at Angola but when I was 9 years old, my parents went to live to Mozambique, Maputo, ex Lourenço Marques. We came out wt independence as mony others.Later in 1996 I went back to Maputo wt a Portuguese Group. I stay there until 2005 and unhapply i had to come back to Portugal (familiar reasons). Now I want to go back to Africa and I think will be dificult. My daughter is leaving at Maputo.

Are you still at Angola? working? Is a dificult country isn it?

Nice to meet you here. Keep in touch

same as you I was not informed about this text! our family has a very interesting history but to make in a nutshell; we are the direct ancestors from Enrique de Alphons, better known in world history as Hendrick the Explorer, his two sons came to South Africa and here they adopted the surname Ferreira from their mother's side. The son's names was Erique and Ignacius, Enrique traveled north and Ignacuis stayed in the Cape province. The name Hendrik is the equivalent of Enrique in Afrikaans. He then married into the Afrikaner community and that is where the heritage and language were lost!.
I your daughter has Mozambiquen citizenship it will not be too difficult to go and live there. the best way will be to go and visit her and then to go to the authorities and find out how to to do. If you only want to come back to Africa I will recommend Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania and most of all Namibia. I have a house in Namibia and will go and live there permanently from next yea

Interesting your family History. I will read about.Nádia, my daughter, will have the mozambiquen citizenship as she will marid a Mozambican man. Ya all of that countries could be a ggod choice but, I dont know them and I dont know anybody there. To go alone without any suport could be a "not so good idea". I mean to go to Africa you need to have a suport being a project, un entrepise task / job or to have your own idea and money to develop it. Unhaply is not the case for the moment. Namíbia is chalenge: I have lots of friens that went there, some live there already and they say is the most. I would love to know it. If you have a house at Namíbia it may be because you work already there, is it? So, how can one live there? I mean what can I do to live there, what oportunities, how can one get a work permit and, really a work / job?

nice to keep contact

Thank you so much for your comments and kindness

Regards

Odette
