They say that a life time is not enough to see Rome because it is so rich of places to see that you never see enough. Advising you on which places you should visit depends on what kind of things you like to visit. THere are the four basilicas..not to miss (S.Pedro in the Vatican), S. giovanno, Santa Maria Maggiotri and I don't remember the name of the fourth but all tourist books mention it. Also the museum of Vatican which is always overcrowded, is beautiful. Walk around the main streets of rome...piazza di Espagna, Fontana di Trevi, the Capitolio and many other squares, the Coloseum, the roman forum, the catacumbs...and many other museums and small churches which are beautiful..you have to select what do you like to see and visit the most important.Enjoy your trip..
Hola Alberto...If you are interested in food, there is a place called *Cul de Sac*, in Piazza Pasquino (in Trastevere), where you can get something like that...It's a very unusual place, very nice, and not extremely expensive. Besides the ham and cheese, you get delicious fresh bread...but they also have other goodies, such as lasagne, or a dish made with artichokes and potatoes. It's not like a typical Roman restaurant, and I loved it! Also, you can try (always in Trastevere), in Campo dei Fiori...There are many little places there, my favorite was a sandwich shop, on the corner (opposite the Drunken Sailor pub), where you can make your own sandwich (you tell the ladies and they will prepare it for you obviously), you can get drinks and then sit outside at their little wooden tables. Hope this was of use and not too late. Melody Fox (aka the Princess of Rock) Love Peace Music...(I travel a lot around the world for my work...I have spinned/Deejayed in many places, also in Rome,

thank you for your tips. Unfortunately I'm just gonna be there for two days but I think that for the most part I will, as you said Anna, discover Rome with my feet :) let me know if you ever come to México :D
Gracias, Alberto. I will. I'd love to visit Guadalajara. Enjoy your journey to Roma.
I had the best experience in Rome by just roaming the streets from one Piazza to the other. Emergin from narrow and sometimes dark little side streets there are sooooo many Piazzas, Churches and Fountains and amazing architecture to behold. Do your self a favor and spend just 1 day wandering through the center of Rome starting from the Vatican heading away from the front piazza and you shall not be disapointed. A little tire with sore feet by the end of the day but then you can take transit bus back to your Hotel. Simple and easy routes if you get a transit map.
visit Rome is like traveling in time, every street has a story to tell, to think that we walk or sit where thousand years spent almost all civilizations of our world, is one of the most beautiful things in Rome, visit the Piazza Venezia, the Foro Italico, the Coliseum, the Trevi Fountain and many places that I do not think enough time to tell you, but if you visit Rome you can not miss the three most important things and have no comparison in the world
Coliseum located nearby the Foro Italico.
Trevi Fountain, a wonderful source, Know as the source of desires.
and the Vatican Museum, where you can be fully fascinated with the Sistine Chapel.
