BeeHwa 4th Nov 2010

Stayed in a hotel that was far from the beach. In fact it was situated beside the main road. Very inconvenient. Nothing much to view. Went to a temple just beside their tourist market. Was threatened (with the hand fist) by the personnel in charge. Didn't know that location was out of bounds. No signage to indicate, door was open. At all times, please huddle with someone. It is very easy for someone to take advantage or play violent with you, especially if you were a lady. Not going back to Bali again. Other than their historical temples and beautiful sea cliffs, everything else is a tourist trap.

I guess I ran out of luck that day. But thanks for reading my review and offering your comment.

ya, i think u are run out of luck, but anyway to go travelling by your own is quite dangerous, especially if you dont know the language. my experience in bali quite nice, love to go there anytime i have holiday..should try diving, down stream boat, the food is usual, nothing special, but the beach is awesome and the sunset too..=)

Yup, I agree with you the language is one huge barrier. I prefer the heritage though, it is sad how one person's act can affect the reputatio of a beautiful island.

wow....U totally wrong BeeWha.....Bali is a paradise...U can see a lot of beautifull places, beach or mountain. And if u hv a lot of money, U can stay at some exclusive hotel, 5 stars hotel like: Pullman, Aston, Bali Beach, etc around Kuta, Sanur, Seminyak, Ubud, Lovina, etc. And for hang-out at rock bar Jimbaran, Paddy's, double Six, etc. But, dont worry if U only hv a little money U can stay at homestay. Trust me, where ever U go, i guarantee that is wonderfull experince. So, enjoy ur holiday.

I agree with Irina and Wing but up to a point. I travelled with my husband to Candidasa and found the locals to be very accommodating. Obviously as Bali is a poor country, there are many beggars and poor people needing money to supplement their income but as a visitor you need to be respectful of the situation they live in. I do not travel with alot of money as disagree that you have to be wealthy to enjoy a country. I eat with the locals, mingle with the locals and shop with the locals. Is this not the real reason to enjoy a new country and its traditions. If I wanted a 5 star resort I would stay at home as Australia has too many to right about. BeeHwa, please think about what tips you are leaving for new travellers as your comments would easily scare female travellers into avoiding such beautiful places.

Hello Kayleen, may be U not totally wrong but in my opinion, bali is not a poor country...but only some of the Bali people or Indonesia people are lazy..not all. If U check their real life, U'll see the fact that they hv good house or car. Yes, they choice as beggar as their job and proffesion. Sorry, is the bad but reallity here. I'm an Indonesia lady.

don't be, just be careful of the little unknown and unspoken rules. Rule of thumb, if you are not sure, don't attempt.
