I have travelled in about Half part of China. i have worked and lived in different cities like Chongqing, Tianjin, Beijing and now Qingdao.

I'm French and English teacher in China but my real job in France is something at the crossroad of pedagogy and politic. we call that "popular education" (search on wikipedia if you want know more about that). So, I'm not someone neutral but engaged about some values!

So, I have been disappointed about many Chinese (especially because many things turn around money, superficiality and materialism) and about China...I know quite well Chinese culture also.

I go on to think China is not a country you can live long years except if you live in the countryside....too much stress, noise, pollution, peoples and so much Chinese bad habit let you day after day become exhausted and angry!

In other side, some Chinese are really warm-hearted and great. Many places in China are also wonderful, peaceful and far away to the city!

Soon, in just few years, the economic bubble about real estate will explode and also because chinese economy is based too much about exportation so you'll have a big economic problem. you know below 6% to 7% growth it means the chinese market can't produce enough things for let people work. It means unemployment will become very high in few years in China.

If it happens, in my opinion it would be the begining of the end of the communist party. Until now many chinese still trust and support their government because economy is high and people got a better life than before. But, i'm pretty sure it can change very fast if the situation of China become worst. let's wait and see.

I can agree with you that many things turn around money, superficiality and materialism here in China. I think it is affected by value from abroad in some degree since China's reform and opening-up policy.

yeah, noisy and stressful. People are getting more snobbish than before. You should know that the living cost here in China is much higher now. Maybe that's one reason most of Chinese have to be like this. Pathetic...

I believe government should do more to make people relax when they are living in such a society. Many people can not even afford house in city, but, at the same time, rent is very high. What are we gonna do? who will take good care of these problems?

Sure in Many big cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen. only upper class can buy an apartment in the center. The normal people must go very far in the suburb if they want buy a place to live. In the same time the salary didn't grow up much compare to the extreme % in real estate. An example, my brother and his chinese wife bought an apartment near Chaoyang park 3 years ago. They bought it about 2,3 millions rmb. today, if they want to sell it it's about 6 millions rmb. it's nearly 3 times the price they bought it in just 3 years. It's unbelievable.

Sure it's terrible same rent now is high price in big cities. It's the price of chinese development. every year in china you got less and less people in middle class. More and more in upper middle class or high class and in the same time more and more in low class. every year the gap between rich and poor increase in China and it's why since few years you got more and more social problems, ethnic fight or protest.
