Hi Roberto,
Both JPG and RAW are file formats.
RAW is a file format which does not compress in the same way as a JPG file.
Essentially, in RAW, each pixel has an individua light meter reading, in a JPG pixels can be clumped together in blocks of colours which are roughly the same. If you are shooting pictures to put in a family album then shoot in JPG. If you are shooting for a living or if you intend to do a lot of image manipulation afterwards, then it can be advantageous to shoot in RAW.
RAW format does have drawbacks though. The files are much larger than JPG, usually 3-4 times bigger. Also, before you can use a RAW file, you need to convert it to a JPG if you want to share it online or give it to other people to use.
RAW can give better results, but for most amateurs, the convenience of working with JPG files is much better.
RAW + JPG means just that, the camera will create 2 files of the same image, one in RAW and one in JPG.
It has its uses, but my advice, choose RAW or JPG not

Can't not be. Camera will take 2 photo at the same time. raw and JPEG. It is a good solution when RAW+JPEG when you don't want to a lot work with photoshop and just send by email . but if you want work with programs is better to work with raw files. I very often use doubble shot RAW +JPEG.

RAW and JPG are individual formats .... i personally use only jpeg format since i dont have to edit too much, just shoot in a manner that you dont have to edit. that will solve the problem. RAW images can be edited in photoshop or CS, but Nikon needs a special decoder which is provided in their CD along with the purchase. Load it in your pc and then open the files. In case you want to save, you need to reconvert into jpeg, so better shoot in high resolution to get a better quality.

actually raw is raw and jpg is jpg. what the camera does is store 1raw and 1 jpg. raw stores more details allows u to edit in all sorts of ways including the exposure settings. eg an over exposed image can be edited to give correct exposure..

Hi! AM new here and am professional in this. Raw file is like negative as earlier days. This means when you are processing the image in the software you can adjust many things as you want and then bring to p.Shop for more fine tuning. Jpeg mean its like th print made already and so the amount of corrections that you can do to the image is very limited also the file size will be small. My advice is to shoot on RAW and save then your file size also will be big and you can correct the file in so many ways. Hope this helps....chk:www.silverimagefotografic.com tks and have a nice day.

I assume that this is a selection that is available to you in your camera. If you select that , for every picture you take there will be a RAW picture which you can edit and also a JPEG format picture. Most high end cameras will have this selection.

Hi. RAW and RAW+JPEG is quite simple. If you choose to photograph only in RAW you don't have the preview of the photograph in the computer, you can only see the picture in a software able to read RAW, but if you photograph on RAW+JPEG when you take a picture it cames in the 2 formats: RAW and JPEG. With the JPEG you can see the photo in any media software, and the RAW is better when you are editing.
