Services are activities that are offered and normally there is a criteria that you have to satisfy to be able to access them whereas social networking is as mentioned above meeting with like minded people interested in a cetain activity.

Social Networking is the interaction between people, sharing things in common & exchanging new ideas, things etc.. Social Services on the hand is offering services to the Community,Society as required by them.

Well said, I agree it is two fold some time one uses the community to get involved in a large project. Like I did in Burundi. I built a school using sandbags and a 100 members of the local community. We shared food, knowledge and how to build a building out of sand bags.

I have to agree with Virasatjung's reply to Shamila's answer because they're both elements of social work which is reaching out to those in society who lack the means to properly care for themselves so that you may alleviate those needs. Social Networking on the other hand is staying in touch with others for the fun of it and while we seem only to think of the internet these days being out with friends in a social setting is the best form of Social Networking there is
