depends on your style of play or preference in music. I play an Ibanez electric, but I love the tone of an ovation acustic. My best advise is to just go to a music store and play as many different ones until you fine the one that you like. Every musician has his/her own preference.

In the $1000-$3000 range, Kenneth Hill can't be beat for tone production. (this of course applies only to Classical Guitars). He makes very good Hauser and Ruck copies. For under $500, Yamaha makes good strong quality and can take a right good beating.

If they are excellent quality custom-made, all good (it depends on who plays the guitar also!)...Gibson, Fender and so many others...Love Peace Music from Melody Fox (aka the Princess of Rock) p.s.: these certainly do not cost a hundred $! (~_*)

It depends on a lot of things. Do you want an acoustic guitar you can take with you and play anywhere, unamplified? Do you want an acoustic/electric, so you can plug your guitar into an amp if you need too? Do you want to play just an electric guitar that needs an amp always?
For an acoustic Guitar only- you will have a hard time topping the great sound of a Takamine! Takamine makes great acoustic/electric guitars too. Another great sounding acoustic is an Aria. You can get a great sounding guitar for a modest price, if you stick with a Takamine. I own and play a Takamine acoustic on everything from live concerts to recording sessions, its the best acoustic guitar I've ever owned! For an all electric, depends on whether you want to play a solid piece of wood, or a semi-hollow body electric. The former? Then look no farther than a Fender Telecaster or Strat. For a semi-hollow body electric, you have a hard time topping the great sound of a Gretsch guitar! Schecter guitars are great!

That really depends on your playing style, i.e. rock, country, classical, etc. For electric guitars, look into Fender, Epiphone in the lower price range or pro models, Gibson, Gretsch, Collings. For acoustic folk, country or just playing with friends, you want a spruce or maple top and mahogany sides ideally, such as Gibson, Collings in the high range or Epiphone, Yamaha, Ovation in the lower range. Classical is a whole separate animal with price ranges U.S. $400 to $25,000, low range look at Cordoba and Alvarez, upper range that I love are Chris Carrington, Ramirez, Marchione. It's all about the woods selected, the bracing style internally and the luthier's skill in assembly. Go to a local guitar store and ask questions, play the various ones they have and see what you like. I play a Gibson J-200 custom professionally with a bridge pickup to plug in, then an Epiphone Sheraton semi-hollow body electric for full band with a Framus acoustic for campouts and places I wouldn&#3
