I have always found that early fall is the best time to visit the falls. Its alot quieter with many of the summer crowds gone. Everything is still open and it still warm enough to be outside.

There are 2 times of year that are great for visiting Niagara Falls. One is in the winter. Yes it is cold but the falls are lit up at night and the ice and snow is a spectacular sight like none other. The other time of year is in the early summer like May. It is before tourist season and still warm enough to enjoy.

In my part of Canada ( southern Ontario ) our winters are now becoming very mild. We have yet to have any snow as of Nov.30 Winter starts Dec 20-21 to March 20-21st. It is not very cold in my area , it may get down to -30c--40c for a week or ten days then back up tp the -10's. The summerscan be very HOT!!! the temps range from the low20's c to high 40's c depending on the humidex.

I am in the falls a lot during the year....probably after labour day weekend..September 6th to October 10..that way not only do you get the beauty of the falls, the hotel rates are lower and the leaves are changing color...and it is not too cold yet..still perhaps around 20

A lot of the touristy downtown restaraunts are OK to eat at. I found a Mexican place called Frijoles better then most of the downtown restaraunts. Look for the out of downtown area restaraunts for good food and better prices.

Definitely in the summer time...so anywhere between June and August...that way you can enjoy the waterfalls and be able to visit all the touristy places and enjoy the weather. :)
