I am rubbish at languages and speak English, Afrikaans, a tad of Flemish and a bit of Dutch. The way I picked up the Dutch was to spend some time in Holland (Admittedly I had a start with being able to speak Afrikaans). However I worked in Cameroon for a few months and picked up quite a bit of French. So my suggestion is if you want to learn to speak a language, get the basics from a book / internet and then spend a few months in that country. You may well feel very isolated in the beginning if you don’t have friends around but after a week or so you will start making acquaintances. And I have found that generally, all around the world, people are very happy to help as long as you treat them as you would have them treat you.

the easy way to speak other langueges is to meet poeple from thes languege...sure

u are right, i went to spain i stayed only 4 days but rapidly i learn many essential words

by living in that culture milieu and learning it as you learnt your native language as a child

without learning the language you cannot get the essence of the culture.

Just link with the people, they will help you learn the language quicker.
