How do you keep other animals away from your camp at night? (Snakes, bear, dogs, poisonous insects, or anything with fangs.

salt and or boric acid will keep insects away....for bears dont leave food out....keep a fire going and they will stay away

if the campsite is near the beach, place your tent there and make a bonfire to protect you from animals as human as well.

Place onions on the edges of u r tent and with its smell you are safegaurded from snakes, insects, frogs etc... and fire will help you from big animals...

pour a salt around your tent ... u cant let fire on while u sleep in here ... or it can be a disaster ^_^
we dont have a bear in here ... well maybe a tiger or panther .. lol

can't really do much about insects, but as for 4 legged wildlife keep all food in a metal cooler that can be latched securely. If you are not in a managed campground bury all your refuse well away from your campsite, but always remember to carry out any nonbiodegradable refuse out with you.

Eat them first... jokes aside, camping is mostly done in fairly well organised venues with facilities. If you have to camp in unsafe areas just be careful and take cautionary measures. Most dangerous creatures are possibly as frightened of you as you are of them.

camp fire is a good option bt i used barb wire when i was to a camp in karakorams.. there pigs and monkeys always distrub you.. barbwire is a good protection in that case..

Hi Andrew - the other option is to pour some used dirty oil all around the camping area. I know its effective with insects, snakes. I do not think it will keep away dogs, but its usually very effective with insects + snakes.
