Ho chi minh is a modern city where you can hail taxi anywhere in this place. Airport is typically for 45 minutes out town center. Ben than market is a famous central market in the middle of the town. Don't forget to stop by to the cathedral and the central train station, old statue but looks great! It's a modern city, you'll easily use english and you can easily go with detail set of directions, foods like McD are everywhere. Oh, one more thing.. if you are really need to cross the road, imagine yourself is a number 1 sprinter and a world record holder for 100 meter dash. You'll never believe how danger it is. haha. but the town is friendly and I don't see any risk of crime there. Food's are good as typical in Vietnam, price are fair.

I booked my ticket to Ho chi minh but only for next year. Is theres any train go to Ha long bay from Ho chi minh? recommended?

Trip that Train from HCMC to Ha Long Bay following: The first you will book a ticket in VietNam airlight, then your flight will take off in Noi Bai air Station about 2h after. Beautiful place to visit, kind and open people, a must see area. My advice: Try the local street food, don;t be scarred and just go for it. Especially nice in areas of old quarter (north of Hoan Kiem Lake)

I have plan to go to Ho Chi Minh city on 6-13 june 2012 with my friend(but we never been there before) I booked flight ticket already for 6 person from Thailand to Ho Chi Minh roundtrip. I want to know about how we should do when we go there. I already booked for hotel also but only one night first with booking.com(forgot the name of hotel but near ben-tan market) And I want to know the best hotel that normal price for us(near the place for shopping) thank you very much....

It is just about a year I was In VN.
It has changed my out look on life very much and opened my eye's up!!!
It is a must see country of the world the people are very friendly caring loving Yes you will get ripped off so do not get upset over it
I am planning to go back in there winter never again in the summer
The food is great just make sure its hot when you get it other wise send it back with drinks make sure they open them in front of you other donot accept them.
With your passport at Hotels Backpacker's etc give them a "A4" photo copy if they dont accept that go to another place to stay DO NOT LET ANY ONE KEEP YOUR PASSPORT at hotels etc
VN is a great place to go

Ha long is great for 3 day boat trip. I went to Bac ha in north and saw place no-one else had been but that was back in 1994. Sould be easy to get ther now, start out direction of Sapa. Both bit chilly this time of year. I went in June and it was still cold and damp but lots of different tribal groups at Bac Ha market.
