I've now been to Tunisia a few times and have been amazed at the range of attractions on offer. There really is plenty to do and see. Tunis, itself, is a modern city with a definite French influence. I was thoroughly impressed with the Bardo museum with its amazing mosaics and also the nearby suburbs of Carthage with the impressive Roman ruins. There is also the picturesque coastal village of Sidi Bou Said, reminds me a little of a village along the Cote D'Azur. In land there is the impressive amphitheater at El Djem. For me it was more impressive than the Colosseum. It's not crowded. Kairouan is an important city is Islam and there are some beautiful mosques. Along the coast you have Port El Kantoui (a purpose built resort), Sousse with it's souk and Monastir with the ribat. Venture inland to the desert to see where Star Wars was filmed.

Tunesia is a wonderful country with lots of cultural places, like Tunis, Carthago and the set of Star Wars. The people are friendly and are willing to help. There are also lots of sport opportunities like parasailing, diving and jetskiing. The weather is nice and it's only 3,5 hours by plane! :D
