People are not friendly. Waitresses serve with frowning faces. Cab drivers gets angry when you ask details about your fare. Hotel receptionist tells you instruction as though you're an idiot. Hangs up the phone even before you could say bye.

A friend who live their for years now said that, that really is Singaporean service. Too bad.

The place is great though for shopping. Although I agree that it is an artificial city. Everything is man-made. No nature tripping in Singapore.

Amila 's tip about Singapore, Singapore 8th Dec 2009

The Merlion Park is located in Marina Bay. There are two structures of the Merlion located here. The Merlion, half fish, half lion has become the Singapore's tourism icon. The huge Merlion statue is located at the centre of the park looking at Marina Bay. It is the main attraction for tourists in Singapore. The Merlion Statue is 8.6m high & there is also a second statue in the park which is smaller in size. The second is 2m high. The Merlion Statue stands in a 2,500 square meter park beside the Singapore River. Also there is a viewing deck which is able to accommodate 300 people who want to view the surrounding area of Merlion.

The esplanade theatre, The Singapore flyer & Esplanade Bridge can be seen from the Merlion Park.

Singapore is a fantastic city to visit if you know where to go... I would recommend some of the roof top bars such as 1 Altitude to enjoy the view of the city. There is a great Sunday brunch culture where you pay a fixed price for champagne and a top quality buffet, the Mandarin Oriental is great for the view. For culture head down to Arab street and check out all the fabrics for sale and sample a road side sheesha. Club street nr Chinatown is brilliant on a Friday night.! If you're there for a while then it is worth heading to a nearby island like Bintan for a few days, which is 50mins on a ferry and feels like an Island paradise.

Singapore is a clean city. No pollution , no traffic. I enjoy riding the Singapore flyer. It's not a place for shopping. Everything is so expensive.

Everything in S'pore is Artificial ,Island of Nothing to enjoy or to shop about . It depend on Advertisment to sell only . Bangkok,Malaysia,Hong Kong is a better place to visit.

I read some of the comments... One of my chinese friends is in Singapore and she's the victim of racism at work. Her boss can't understand that her english is so good because she's chinese. She treats her very bad although my friend is a very nice girl, always smiling, laughing, very friendly, very well educated, always well dressed. Now she wants to return to Xi'an cause she can't bear it anymore.
