Raglan is a fantastic surf beach and further south in Taranaki is also well known for great surf - just ask Tom Cruise who fell in love with the area when filming 'The Last Samurai'. Just north of Wellington are also some good spots. I'm not familiar with spots in the South Island but I'm sure there are some great places.

Right now is possibly the best time of the year to be visiting. Not to hot. Cooler mornings and great sunny days. This will last through to early May.

Went to Ashburton, New Zealand to film a Dodge Neon campaign entitled "A Lot More To Love" . We celebrated New Year's Eve at a local pub. We built a asphalt winding road through a mustard field. The road was 3 meters wide by 90 meters long. We waited for the mustard plants to come into full bloom...shot the commercial and then tore down the road and made the soil re-plantable. New Zealand is a beautiful place of peace and tranquility...great place to live, I would think.

It's a country where you can feel like you're 5. What I mean is that you meet friendly people everywhere (so you start to relax and feel you can trust again (like when you were 5)), you can climb, run, skip and play on about everything, and things just seem more laid back. I might be alone on this impression, but that's what I think.

New Zealand is a beautiful country full of rich rolling hills and plentiful nature. It has a population of an estimated 4.9 million. Its most notably known for its geographic isolation, 2000 km from Australia across the Tasman Sea. The population is mostly of European descent, with the indigenous Māori being the largest minority. Much of contemporary New Zealand culture is derived from British roots. It also includes significant influences from American, Australian and Māori cultures, along with those of other European cultures and – more recently – non-Māori Polynesian and Asian cultures.
