Barcelona 's tip about Vientiane, Laos 11th Nov 2008

We've been in Vientiane, in first November. Really if you have never been before in Laos, is a nice city. Probably not as nice as Louang Prabang... if you want to travel there, better do first Vientiane and then Louang Prabang. They has a nice market, nice temples, and nice Laotian people everywhere. Airport is easy and not far from city. You can move there by TUK TUK, is not expensive. There are also many good restaurants.
I meet there a nice friend from WAYN and we went to dinner in a Laotian restaurant. Lunch was great and the pleasure to meet my internet was the best.

yours well come :)

Pheth 's tip about Vientiane, Laos  (with reference to Bus Travel) 17th May 2012

Laos is a small country, but I can say it's very nice and peaceful country, Lao people are very nice and kind, you can see the real culture, if you come to Laos, it's very easy to travel around the country, but first you should come to Vientiane Capital, there are many places to visit and easy to travel. But I suggest you to spent a few days in Vientiane first, because you will know more information about traveling, places that you want to visit. I am please to welcome to Vientiane, Laos. And I can suggest you some good places. Just come and contact me. Welcome to Laos.

Hi Munie. It's OK to go to Luangprabang, if 4d3n, but you should book your ticket from any travel company, which date you want to fly to and back Luangprabang, then when you arrive VTE, you just go and buy the ticket from the company you booked and show them the code, I think you know this well. Spent 1 night in VTE and 3 nights in Luangprabang. Welcome to Laos.

Hi! I am traveling to Laos next October/November. I've never been there so I would really appreciate if you give me advice about places and activities which really worth it.
Thank you!

Hi Marc, I was there about 6 years ago, so I've forgotten a lot, but what stands out are tubing in Vang Vieng, the night market in Luang Prabang and the Kouang Si waterfall outside Luang Prabang, really beautiful! There was so much more, it's a beautiful country with the most laid back people! Enjoy!

Tony 's tip about Vientiane, Laos  (with reference to Shuttles & Transfers, IT, Attractions, Restaurants) 19th Mar 2012

There are a lot of nice things to see and do in Vientianne, have a look at all the markets along the Mekong River and bars and restaurants etc. There are many inexpensive, but clean and tidy hotels, with tariffs typically $25.00 to $30.00 / day.
Some local customs that you must observe, such as always remove footwear when you enter a person's home or a monastery (especially), never put your feet on a table, or enter a place where people are sitting on the floor and stand over them - sit down with them so you are at the same level. Also it is extremely rude to touch somebody's head and never cough or clear your throat whilst dining...

I have lived in Laos. Have traveled to its remote areas when travel there was off limits to westerners in the 1980s. Best time is between October and February. Cool at that time - between 20 -30 degrees C. Starts to get hot in March. Hottest months are April and May when it gets to be 30-40 degrees C. Louangprabaan is the oldest and best place. Thousand years old. Bangkok is 250 years at most. Lao New Year is in April...known as the water festival. Lao people are gentle and kind. Eat the national staple which is Kai Yang somtam (sticky rice and grilled chicken). Yum. All the best. Oh and do visit the stone jars upcountry. Jake Buhler
