Hi Lydia, I am sorry to answer very late. I hope you have settled down in Kokkola by now using our friends suggestions. I was in Kokkola, Finland only for a day. It is a small town and people are very friendly. If you like a busy day, then you may not like this place, but peace lovers will certainly like this place. WOW! I like it.

I always get so much energy when being in Helsinki. This city is alive! There is so much great things to do. I am visiting Helsinki at least 5 times a year, because it is such a great place to find your peace and get rid of your stress. The people are very nice and expect that you can speak English to basically everyone. These people speak English very well.
They do not bother you, if you would like to have some rest.But if you meet people here, you will definatly have some great new friends!

I live here and I love it. I would not change this country, but it is nice to visit other countries and come back home again. All the trees and lakes and fresh air here, is worth OF experience for anyone even for a lifetime. I recommend visiting places in general for different seasons and different places, it really gives you a fuller picture. never trust first impression.

Tervetuloa. Suomi is a cold place with a warm people. I was in Suomi in 2002 and knew the most amazing persons in the world. I recommend to everyone to visit this country, especially the North cities, like Rovaniemi, Oulu, Tornio, Kemi, Raahe and more southern like Kajaani and Ylivieska. Helsingin Keskusta (Helsinki Downtown) is very beautiful. Good travel and good luck for all.

unfortunately all the means to travel in Finland are nowadays costly. The train and the bus both cost about 50 euro one way between Helsinki and Jyväskylä. But fortunately at present it is not much more by plane. Sometimes even cheaper than by train. For example 5.6. it is only 43 euro by Estonian Air from Helsinki to Jyväskylä. It takes a long time, you have to go to Tallinn from Helsinki and from there directly to Jyväskylä, 6 hours totally.
Even a direct flight, 45 min is only 51 euro. Waiting to see you here in Jyväskylä, if I'm not in Vietnam or in Nepal at that time...

While visiting Sweden my relatives entertained us by having 1 day cruise from Stockholm to Turku. I t was great fun and we ate a lots of chocolate made in Finland "Fazer". my favorite is "Geisha". Finland very green and clean country.

The second I prifer the train or own car.
Hotels are in the city center and also out of the city.
