Be careful booking from your country as you will be ripped off. The tourist car companies are expensive you can find cheaper if you negotiate when you are there but be careful

Narendra... it depends where you want to go to. If you have to travel to major cities (e.g. Bahir Dar, Mekele, Hawassa) you have the option of having a 1st class buses or mini-buses; if planning to go to other small towns then you have other buses too which I don't recommend you to use with the short you have and safety issue (safety of the buses that some might be a bit over used). I would recommend you going to Bahir Dar (taking Sky Bus or Selam Bus). I know you'll have an enjoyable journey by bus, a lot of enjoyable landscape to see, Lake Tana, Source of Nile, and other wonderful places to visit. You man also extend your Journey to Gondar (from Bahir Dar) which is just a couple of hours drive.

You won't see lions, elephants and giraffes anywhere in Ethiopa now but but if you go to the arbaminch lakes you will see the most populated area in Africa for hippos and crocodiles, I saw a 13 metre crocodile close up incredible. I lived in Ethiopia for 2 years

Hi, planning to go to Ethiopia in December 2011, we are two and are really interested in Danakil depression. Anyone can suggest the best way how to manage?Any tips, experiences, advices how to get there, information about prices...Looking for a low cost option, we may start from Mekele to get the price down. Thanx a lot for any answer. Martina

It is a dangerous region and very isolated. The Afar tribe controls the area and you need to take an armed guard and fill out all sorts of permission slips and you will still be cheated. Also recommended to use two 4#4 vehicles cause if you breakdown in the heat there you will have problems. I lived in Dire Dawa for one year so I know the region

Is Addis Ababa a very modern area already?, with lots of buildings, hotels, entertainment, etc. I am a Christian and I know Ethiopia as an Orthodox Christian, but does their culture allow divorce and many marriages, like Muslims, w/c I think they got from the religion Judaiism?

Yohannes Girmay Hindeya from Addis Abeba, Ethiopia Yohannes Girmay
Frankly, I can’t say that Addis Ababa a very modern city with so many Buildings, Hotels & so on. But it is a rapidly booming city in development and there are many new buildings, Hotels & Restaurants which made the city capable of hosting major international events like the ICASA annual meeting with Ten Thousand participants in 2011 as well as the International Economic Forum for Africa in2012 in which Seven Heads of Stats participated. In addition the city is a site for many international organizations and embassies, making the city the capital of Africa.
Furthermore the residents of Addis Ababa are very friendly & always happy to help a Foreigner in all aspects in his/her stay in the city.
In general, I can assure you will be delighted if you visit Addis & your stay here will be the most enjoyable time in your life due to so many reasons. For sure you will want to come again & again after your first visit to the city.
The religion with the most believers in Addis Ababa is Ethiopian O
