The best source when you will build your famiy tree, is your grandparents. Make sure that they mark all old family-photos with name and birthday.

visit local archives for nearest information, ask as many relatives as possible and remember that your ancestors might have been known by different names. Often people were given nicknames that stuck. Ancestry and find my past are excellent sites and some libraries offer ancestry for free. Google your family name, it is surprising what comes up. If you know where some relatives are buried, go and look at the graves, morbid, but can come up with more information.

I've just heard that the new Family Tree Maker 2012 has been released and it's being sold at 19.99 but i've read on Facebook trhat there is a £3 discount available at My History in the UK if you use a voucher code 'FTM593'. I've just ordered my copy. If anybody wants to ask me about using the program just go ahead. |
