even if you don't have a story...you can pick an incident and see if you can recreate it as a short film

Part 2 of 2

The story must flow fluently, tell a story, give conflict and resolution, characters must be believable and the main character must have a goal be it material, emotional or physical that reveals his character. To reach that goal he must face tasks that may be unsurmountable be it good or bad events. Finally the ending should support either a change in the character when he either reached or didnt reach his goal or the character fails and the audience shes how he/she handled the failure.

Rookie film makers usually start with a short films 10 minutes or less. It is of course the hardest film to make since you have a short time in which to tell your story so you have to give up a lot of support material that are used in larger productions. A films success is its ability to hold the interest of its audience.

Start with simple subject. Select it, write down your screenplay and the takes sequence. For each take select the camera view you want. If you put people the most important thing is that people (actors) repeat exactly the action sequence in the exact position and with exact spoken sequence. Select light source, if external you must have in all takes the same light. For sound you ccan take direct or record in post editing.
Don't make moovie too long if it is first time (max 5 minutes)
