History is a collective record of various discipline which is recorded for future reference. The history can be judge with reference to all the prevailing circumstance at the time of recording a fact or phenomena. Present is reference of the history for the future and past is the history that have already been established. There is only a temporal bridge in between.

I would like to know after Jesus's departure, lets say 200 years later who had power around the middle east? Was there a universal language? If so what was it?
I have been told that Greek was spoken but find that hard to believe considering that arabic or aramaic is so pure of a language. Does anyone know?

Edison Antony from Doha, Qatar Edison Replied to Shereen's answer
Aramaic was not a common language on those days, one those day Hebrew also used commonly,

Whatever your interest centers on, whether it be the Celts(my passion) or the ancient Greeks, or the Romans, whatever ancient cultures fascinates you. you can begin with the computer, and tap in what you are interested in studying. Once you have found roundabout what you are looking for, you can dig deeper.
That is what makes learning--and the search for knowledge, which often becomes a key to wisdom--such an adventure.
