How do you keep other animals away from your camp at night? (Snakes, bear, dogs, poisonous insects, or anything with fangs.

Hi Andrew - the other option is to pour some used dirty oil all around the camping area. I know its effective with insects, snakes. I do not think it will keep away dogs, but its usually very effective with insects + snakes.

Backpacking, solo is my favorite :) Yellowstone National Park has nearly every terrain, length, and the backcountry is virtually empty compared to the Grand Tetons!
