For me symmetry in flower arrangement is important. However, there are arrangements that do not have symmetry but still look great. It is an art, hence, it depends who does the art of arranging flowers.

there are 6 Basic designs in flower arrangements namely=triangle-design for beginner,vertical=vase put against narrow wall space bet 2windows or on a small table.horizontal=effective on coffee tables,dining tables,on cabinets.crescent=keep smallest flowers on the longest stems and cut stems of the larger flowers shorter

Floral arrangement is a an artistic skill of its own. The arrangement which attracts the viewers are like an abstract art which is appealing for inviting attention to see it again and again. A good arrangement sometimes propagate a great message of grace, harmony and peace of mind. I personally like the Ekibana the most.
